The Gift of Giving

Box Hat, Ear Warmers, Coach Wristlet Shidonna Raven Fashion

They say that is better to give than to receive. The box hat pattern and ribbed headband also worn as ear warmers were recently worked up and pared with a beautiful Coach wristlet. Yes, we are partial to our purses. Nonetheless, these patterns were worked up and pared nicely with the Coach and should make a handsome winter ensemble giving any out fit an elegant finish. Gift it to your family or friends. If I were you, I would work these patterns up and pare them with your favorite accessory for yourself also!

For these projects you will need:

  • 1-2 skeins *check pattern and yardage to confirm
  • tapestry needle
  • tape measure
  • scissors
  • *and don’t forget your patterns

Knitting for a Holiday Cause – Franciscan Center Giving Tree

The one thing knitters and crocheters do and do well is knit and crochet for a cause. Consider donating to the Franciscan Center for the Holidays.

Help Make winter a little warmer for our brothers and sisters in need!

Click Here to Find out What we Need

As the days grow colder and the holidays approach, the Franciscan Center is reaching out to our friends in the community to help us provide warm clothing, toiletries, and other essential items to the men, women, and children who come to our door seeking help.

Your faith community, school, office or family can make an important difference in our community in the days ahead by collecting warm coats, hats, scarves, gloves, socks and other critical items for the Franciscan Center.

Our Holiday Giving Tree Project supplies essential winter clothing such as hats, coats, scarves, mittens, thermal underwear and socks, as well as personal toiletry items to those in need. Items for children and babies such as diapers, baby food and formula, small jackets, mittens, and knitted hats are in especially short supply. We ask that you collect new, unwrapped items for the men, women, and children whom we serve at the Franciscan Center, which we will distribute throughout the holiday season and into the coldest months this winter.

Items can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Franciscan Center, 101 W. 23rd Street, Baltimore, MD 21218. If you would like to help, please contact Angela Hall, Director of Outreach at (410) 467-5340, Ext. 113 or ahall@fcbmore.org

Knit Holiday Project

There are so many wonderful knit and crochet projects out there to work up in time for the holidays. We like this one because it can be done fairly quickly and with only a few weeks left in 2020, one has to begin making their holiday gifts or time will run out.

To complete these projects you will need:

  • 2 skeins of the below yarn*check the yardage and the pattern to confirm
  • tapestry needle
  • scissors
  • tape measure

For a beginner the time frame is always uncertain. However, if you are just past the beginner stage it should take about a day for each project. The grate news about knitting is it can be done almost anywhere.

Where is the most interesting place you have knitted? How many people do you have left on your list? What did you make for yourself?
